Become a Mission Volunteer

Help Protect Lives. Advance Science. Inspire Discovery.

Every great mission begins with people who care.

For years, dedicated volunteers helped transform the vision of Frying Pan Tower into a nationally recognized mission of preservation, education, scientific discovery, and public service.

Today, that mission continues in new and exciting ways.

As FPTower Inc. expands its work in maritime safety, marine science, and Coastal Watch, we're building a new generation of volunteers who want to make a lasting impact on North Carolina's coastal communities.

Whether you're passionate about protecting lives, supporting scientific research, educating future generations, or helping connect people with the natural world, there's a place for you.

Join the Mission

Whether you can volunteer a few hours each month or become actively involved in one of our programs, your time and talents can help create safer coastal communities, expand scientific discovery, and inspire future generations. Together, we're proving that the greatest impact isn't measured by where we work—it's measured by the lives we touch.

Below are opportunities in how you can join us as a Mission Volunteer and help write the next chapter of FPTower Inc.

Maritime Safety

Help support community outreach, lifesaving technology demonstrations, public education, and special events that promote safer waterways.

Marine Science

Assist with collaborative research projects, educational partnerships, environmental observations, and scientific field activities that advance our understanding of coastal ecosystems.

Coastal Watch

Support the development and operation of live-streaming observation systems that connect researchers, educators, students, and the public with coastal wildlife, weather, and marine environments. Volunteers may assist with camera monitoring, wildlife observations, educational outreach, and community engagement.

Education & Outreach

Share your passion for our coast by helping with presentations, community events, student programs, and public engagement activities.

Professional Skills

Engineers, educators, photographers, grant writers, scientists, technology professionals, marketers, and other skilled volunteers all play an important role in helping FPTower Inc. achieve its mission.
