Shining Bright: Frying Pan Tower’s Solar Project Gets a Boost!

Here at FPTower Inc., we’re thrilled to share exciting updates on our multifaceted restoration efforts at the historic Frying Pan Tower! As you know, transitioning to clean energy is a crucial part of the project, and we’re making significant progress on our solar initiative (read more about that below). But safety is paramount, and we’re also taking important steps to ensure the well-being of future visitors and crew members.

Enhancing Safety for All:

One key update involves the top-level walkway of the tower. A thorough engineering assessment revealed the need for its removal. This wasn’t an easy decision, but it prioritizes the safety of everyone who interacts with the tower.

However, fret not, history buffs! We’re committed to preserving the Frying Pan Tower’s unique character. To enhance the experience for future visitors, we have been installing sturdy handrails along the upper perimeter of the tower. This will allow for safe observation and appreciation of the breathtaking ocean views.

Powering Up:

Thanks to your continued support, we’ve recently secured additional Victron charge controllers and inverters boosting the available power up to 20,000 watts. These essential components will play a vital role in transforming sunlight into usable power for the tower. Additionally, the remaining equipment is on its way out to the tower, ready for installation as soon as weather and boat availability permit. We’re also excited to announce the arrival of 52 brand-new solar modules from SilFab Solar!

Expanding Our Vision:

While initial plans focused on a basic solar system, we listened to your feedback and secured additional funding to achieve a complete rebuild of the Frying Pan Tower’s power system. This expanded project scope will deliver a more robust and sustainable solution for the long term.

Weathering the Storm (Literally!):

Mother Nature has certainly thrown some challenges our way, with weather delays impacting the project timeline. However, with spring finally upon us, volunteer participation is on the rise!
