A Surprise Encounter
Recently, our team at Frying Pan Tower had a truly unforgettable experience. While gazing out at the vast expanse of the Atlantic from our recreation window, we were treated to a magnificent sight: a North Atlantic Right Whale, breaching and frolicking about 1,000 feet southeast of the tower!
This critically endangered species finds vital habitat in the shallow waters surrounding North Carolina, and witnessing their playful behavior served as a powerful reminder of the beauty and fragility of our marine environment.
Ocean Stewardship Through Observation
The 135-foot-tall Frying Pan Tower offers a unique vantage point for observing the wonders of the ocean. Our high-definition camera sits atop the tower, continuously scanning the surrounding waters in real-time. This live stream, broadcasted on various social media platforms, allows viewers worldwide to witness the incredible marine life that calls this area home.

FPTower Inc. Expands Mission Following Ownership Transition of Frying Pan Shoals Light Tower
FPTower Inc. nonprofit 501(c)3 has completed an agreement transferring its ownership interests associated with the Frying Pan Shoals Light Tower to private ownership. While this transition concludes our direct stewardship of the Tower, it does not change who we are or why we exist.
