SOUTHPORT, NC (WWAY) — The City of Southport will soon add a new piece of lifesaving equipment to its emergency response arsenal after being selected as the top-voted coastal community in FPTower Inc.’s 2026 Save A Life Raffle.

FPTower Inc. nonprofit 501(c)3 has completed an agreement transferring its ownership interests associated with the Frying Pan Shoals Light Tower to private ownership. While this transition concludes our direct stewardship of the Tower, it does not change who we are or why we exist.
