Auto-Start Generator and Charging System
Solar is great until it’s cloudy and the ever-present need for constant power is put in jeopardy. To provide the clean current that powers research, we need to keep our battery bank charged.
This is where an auto-starting generator makes a difference. Clean power pushed back into the batteries keep all systems online 24/7.
We have acquired a new Honda generator to connect the auto-start charging system so we do not lose power during periods of long cloudy days.
We need to transport the new generator to the tower by the end of May 2020, and have this project 100% complete by early-summer 2020. This way we will not experience any loss of power during hurricane season May through September.
FPTower Inc. Begins a New Chapter Following Ownership Transition of Frying Pan Shoals Light Tower
FPTower Inc. nonprofit 501(c)3 has completed an agreement transferring its ownership interests associated with the Frying Pan Shoals Light Tower to private ownership. While this transition concludes our direct stewardship of the Tower, it does not change who we are or why we exist.
